Meet and Greet with Martha Grover at the Asheville Ceramics Gallery on November 3rd

Nationally renowned ceramic artist, Martha Grover, will be the featured artist at the Asheville Ceramics Gallery in the River Arts District of Asheville, NC during November. There will be a gallery opening where the public is encouraged to come and meet Martha on Friday, November 3 from 6 – 9 PM.

Martha Grover has exhibited her work internationally and is recognized as one of the leading figures in functional ceramics today. Martha travels the country giving workshops on her special techniques and has been featured in several magazines and books. Asheville Ceramics Gallery is the only gallery in the Asheville area to carry Martha’s unique and beautiful art.

Grover’s pots have a striking, special-occasion quality to them, meant to encourage the user to pause and fully experience interacting with the ceramic vessel. Reminiscent of orchids, flowing dresses, and the body, Martha thinks of the fluid visual movement around a piece, as a choreographer would move dancers across a stage. She says of her pots, “transmitting desire – there is a sense of revealing and concealing, a layering of details that serves to catch our attention immediately.”
